(CNN) — In travel news this week, Spain is offering free train travel, Southwest Airlines is making its vouchers good forever, and we’re taking a look at the world’s greatest hiking trails and best swimming spots. from Iceland.
As Shark Week draws to a close, we have some tips for avoiding an attack from one of our sharp-toothed friends. Don’t wear bling in the sea, avoid river mouths and fishing areas, and if one of the big guys starts circling you, be sure to maintain eye contact.

It’s getting a little easier to get around Europe. A long-awaited bridge has just opened in Croatia, connecting two parts of the country’s Adriatic coast and removing the need for border controls across Bosnian territory.
There is also a push to expand the continent’s high-speed rail network, to provide a reliable and sustainable alternative to air travel. Here is the progress made so far.
A step ahead
Taiwan invites visitors to shut up and open their ears as they hike the world’s first “certified silent hiking trail” around the country’s Cuifeng Lake. The lowest measured volume on the trail is less than 25 decibels, allowing hikers to tune in to birds chirping, buzzing instincts, frog calls, and the wind blowing through the leaves rustling.
Further west, in the Land of the Thunder Dragon – better known as Bhutan – the 250-mile-long Trans Bhutan Trail has opened to travelers for the first time in 60 years. The historic pilgrimage route crosses the Himalayan kingdom from its Tibetan border to the borders of India.

The strike that hit Germany’s national airline Lufthansa this week resulted in the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights and affected more than 130,000 passengers.
