Trail Trek Challenge encourages families to discover nature
The free hiking program includes trail maps and scavenger hunts.
LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WKBT) – It’s hiking season in Wisconsin and it’s a great time to take part in the “Trail Trek Challenge”.
The Challenge is a free hiking program that encourages nature enthusiasts to hike the nature reserves in the Driftless Zone.
The one-year program also includes a scavenger hunt.
Hikers can use downloadable maps to find nature’s treasures along the trails.
The La Crosse Public Library also organizes monthly hikes as part of its summer program.
Children’s librarian Celine Donofrio says going out with the family is important.
Donofrio says: “Being with your child, talking about what you see, being outside and exploring is very important for their development, their brain, their body.
Prizes are to be won for those who complete the challenge.
You can find information about the La Crosse Public Library and has more information about their programs on their website.
More information about the Trail Trek Challenge can be found on the Mississippi Valley Conservancy website.
