Tourism Department Celebrates Day Through The Valley – Kashmir Reader

SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Tourism today celebrated World Environment Day by committing to preserve the fragile ecosystem and environment of tourist destinations for safe and responsible tourism.
The main feature of these functions today was the active participation of stakeholders i.e. hoteliers, tour operators and service providers who participated in cleanliness campaigns, awareness programs and other related activities.
The main functions in this regard took place in Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Chinar Bagh and Zabarwan Park in Srinagar, Yousmarg and Doodpathri and Ahrabal.
At Pahalgam, Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo and MD, JK Cable Car Corporation, Majid Khalil Drabu led the clean-up campaign on Aru Road in front of Deer Park. They also launched the planting campaign in the tourist destination.
Speaking on this occasion, the director of tourism said that the department, with the support of tourism stakeholders, had embarked on a mission to preserve the fragile ecology of tourist destinations, to respect ecological standards and to lead responsible tourism. He said that by preserving the fragile ecology of tourist destinations, we are not only protecting the livelihoods of service providers, but also preserving these green gifts for our future generations.
Dr Itoo urged all visitors, fellow inhabitants of this place to ensure that no waste of any kind, especially plastic, is thrown on the pastures of this beautiful place. He said that from today the cleanliness of this place will be strictly maintained as garbage of any kind will be systematically collected, lifted, thrown and destroyed at designated places.
In Gulmarg, a sanitation campaign was carried out in the bowl in addition to a planting campaign and a bike ride to the tourist destination.
The function was attended by Joint Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Tabassum Kamili, CEO, GDA, Inam ul Haq Siddiqui, SDM, Gulmarg, representatives of hoteliers and other service providers.
In Sonmarg, a major Cleanliness campaign is now organized in the fields of Sonamarg.
The campaign was reported by the CEO of the Sonmarg Development Authority, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, as well as the deputy director of tourism, Registration. The ride was taken from the SDA office and passed through Sonamarg Market, the bus stop and Fish Point.
Employees of SDA, the Sonamarg hotel association, traders and residents participated in the collection and collected waste, including polyethylene, plastic bags and plastic bottles, from these places which were then dumped for proper disposal at a solid waste management plant in Sarbal Sonamarg.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said that to commemorate this special day, the Department is organizing various programs throughout the valley with the aim of encouraging awareness and strengthening commitment to the restoration of ecosystems degraded by deforestation. , pollution and other human activities.
