Pushpa Gujral Science City launches 22-day campaign to mark International Biodiversity Day : The Tribune India

A 22-day campaign has been launched by Pushpa Gujral Science City to celebrate International Biodiversity Day and motivate the public to conserve biodiversity.

Launching the campaign on Sunday, Dr. Neelima Jerath, Chief Executive of Science City, said: “Science City will undertake this campaign from Sunday to May 22 with 22 actions as specified by the Convention on Biological Diversity.”

She said actions were aligned with the new global biodiversity framework to be adopted at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15). “Furthermore, through these actions, each individual can contribute to achieving the goals set out in the framework,” she added.

She further said that nearly 30 schools and colleges across the state will participate in this 22-day campaign. Various activities such as expert lectures, nature walks, bird watching, contests, poster making, film screenings, discussion forum, etc. will be organized in hybrid mode (online/offline). Each day, institutions will click on their photos and upload them to social media handles related to the United Nations Biodiversity and the National Biodiversity Authority.

Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director of Science City, said: “This event will ignite society’s passion for the conservation and management of biodiversity resources. It will also improve their knowledge of the values ​​of biodiversity resources in their lives.
