Police seek advice after child’s body is found near hiking trail outside Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Police are calling on anyone with information to come forward after a hiker found the body of a child, believed to be 10, near a trail outside Las Vegas .
“We need all of your help and the support and help from the community in this matter,” Lt. Ray Spencer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in an update on the investigation Friday night. .
A few hours earlier, around 7:30 a.m., a group of hikers were in the Mountain Springs trail area off State Route 160 – the main road between Las Vegas and Pahrump – when one of them left the trail, depending on the department. .
Police said that person discovered the boy’s body near the forest area.
Lt. Spencer described the boy as about 4 feet, 11 inches tall, and 123 pounds Hispanic before sharing a photograph drawn by a cartoonist.
“It’s actually a lot fuller at the chin,” Lt. Spencer said. “He looks a little older in this photo.”

“Someone has to recognize this young man,” said Lt. Spencer.
“It could be a neighbor, it could be a family friend. Something that could lead investigators in a direction where we could get him identified in this investigation.”
The Las Vegas Police Department said it has been in contact with other agencies in the area, including those in Henderson, North Las Vegas, Nye County and San Bernardino, Calif., And so far, no missing person report corresponds to this case.
Investigators point out that the information they can share at this time is vague because the investigation is active and ongoing.
