READFIELD – Carolyn M. (Gay) Dalling, 80, died on Thursday August 25, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She died after a year of declining health. That year, Carolyn enjoyed many outings with family and friends, including her monthly wine parities with fellow Winos, trips to the coast, shopping, and dining out. Meanwhile, Carolyn was in the home of her nephew Gary Boynton and his wife Lori and lovingly cared for.

The last of seven children, she graduated from Cony High School, after which she joined the army. In 1967, Carolyn met the love of her life and her future husband, Frank Dalling, in Monterey, California. After two years of dating, they married on March 24, 1969, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Frank and Carolyn have traveled to 50 countries and every continent except Antarctica, living in Berlin Germany, Naples Italy, where she wrote and published her book “Abanathy House”. They lived in Minneapolis for 20 years where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing, graduating in 1993.

Carolyn and Frank moved back to Maine in 1995 where she started working at Goold Health. Following Frank’s death in 2017, Carolyn retired from Maine General Medical Center where she worked as a care manager from 1999 to 2018.

Above all, Carolyn loved gin and tonic, wine, reading, cooking, watching birds and animals (especially dogs). Carolyn especially enjoyed spending time with her special friend of over 20 years, Edna Brunelle.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents; her husband Frank Dalling, her five brothers, Parkman M Gay, Burton W Gay, Carleton H Gay and Robert A. Gay, three sisters, Viola Gay, Lois Gay and Attalie G.
