Dehradun: Uttarakhand Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar asked department officials to identify places with tourist potential in the state’s 13 districts. He added that immediately after focusing on such a place, officials should prepare a DPR (detailed project report) and submit it to the state government, so that the site can be prepared for the most tourists. early as possible.
The new tourist sites will be developed as part of the state’s ambitious ’13 Districts-13 Destinations’ program. In this context, the State aims to develop a new tourist site in each of the 13 districts.
Asked about the current pace of work on the program, Jawalkar told TOI: “Some of the small projects have already been completed. During this time, we start working on proposals as soon as we receive the consent of the state government. For example, we are developing a tulip garden in Pithoragarh, an astro village in Karnaprayag (Chamoli), an adventure tourism site in Udham Singh Nagar and other similar projects with tourism potential.
The senior official added: “The state government is in talks with ZICA – a Japanese international development agency – for a project worth Rs 1,400 crore in Tehri. If we receive the funds, five tourist poles will be developed around Lake Tehri.
Elaborating on the vision behind the program, Jawalkar said, “Our existing tourist sites have become oversaturated, but our state has several other less traveled areas with enormous tourism potential. These new projects will boost the economy of our State.
