Hike: Twilight Trail

MEDFORD, Ore — Sometimes a hike sounds like fun, but the thought of the whole trip can hold you back. The beauty of southern Oregon is that there are hikes minutes away.

This week’s hike is perfect for a morning run, or even a late night walk with the dog. The Twilight Trail to the top of Roxy Ann is perfect for just about anything.

As you go up Roxy Ann Road you will want to park at the first available parking lot on your right. You’re not going to go all the way to the main parking lot.

You will find the path on your left as you go up the road, just after the first yellow door.

This thing can take you up to about 4.5 miles on a round trip. You can also choose to stop on some side trails. You can even go all the way to the top if you want.

The path is well maintained. It’s pretty narrow in most areas. Only one file is recommended.

There is loose dirt. So even with the beautiful path, you still have to be careful with your footing.

The view from Ashland, all the way to Central Point, is the most amazing part of this easy hike. You can watch all of Rogue Valley as you increase the heart rate.

In the video above, Cameron Derby walks you along the trail. This way you can know exactly what you are up against before you go.
