Earthquakes hit near Pinnacles National Park in California

Four earthquakes struck near Pinnacles National Park in San Benito County on Sunday. The first occurred around 11:57 a.m. The United States Geological Survey first reported it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake, but it was later revised to a magnitude of 3.5. Weak to light shaking was reported, the USGS said. The epicenter was just over two miles north-northeast of Pinnacles National Park and 15 miles northeast of Soledad. A second magnitude 2.8 earthquake was reported in the same general area at 1 p.m., according to USGS data. Thirty-two minutes later at 1:32 p.m., a magnitude 2.6 earthquake struck. It was followed by a magnitude 2.5 earthquake at 1:35 p.m. There have been six earthquakes in this region since September 1, when a magnitude 4.0 quake struck three miles away east northeast of Pinnacles. On September 2, a magnitude of 2.9 hit three miles northeast of the national park.
