From the Pitch to the Drawing Board: Ola Aina's Stunning Sokito Boot Design!
It's not every day a football star becomes a fashion designer, but Ola Aina is proving that anything is possible. After being an investor, he's now designed his own limited-edition football boot with the sustainable brand Sokito.
Last year at AFCON, his teammate and Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong introduced the world to Sokito's 'Scudetta' model. Now, Ola is taking his involvement with the brand to a whole new level by potentially wearing his own designed boots at this year's tournament.
This collaboration has been in the works for 18 months, with Ola actively involved in the design process earlier this year. The boot, aptly named 'Mr Lulu' (a nod to his nickname), features a vibrant light green design that celebrates his Nigerian heritage and pays homage to classic Super Eagles kits.
The boots are adorned with hand-drawn details, showcasing Ola's passion for design. The 'Mr Lulu' logo is prominently displayed on the insole and side of the boot. The design incorporates freeform motifs such as wings, leaves, and the African continent, outlined in gold on the instep.
While based on the Scudetta model, Ola's design incorporates a technological upgrade: a 100% knit tongue for improved comfort and performance. And, in line with Sokito's commitment to sustainability, the boots are crafted from plant-based materials like bamboo, corn waste, castor beans, and recycled plastic.
Sokito has made a significant impact in the football world, despite being a relatively new brand. They've secured £1.1 million in investment from 40 players last year and recently signed Millie Bright.
The 'Mr Lulu' Sokito Scudetta will be available online starting December 5, but here's the catch: only 1000 pairs will be released!
