On Christmas Eve, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Peckham, south London, where a mother was critically injured after gunfire erupted through her front door while she was at home with her one-year-old son. This alarming event took place on Cronin Street between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM GMT, as two male assailants discharged seven shots at the family's residence, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The 21-year-old woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to a hospital, where she has remained in critical care since the holiday period, still receiving medical attention as of now. Fortunately, her young son escaped unharmed amidst the chaos.
Describing this as a "shocking act" of violence, the Metropolitan Police reported that the suspects fled the scene on foot towards Commercial Way. They were dressed in dark attire, with one wearing a grey hoodie and believed to be armed, while the other also wore a dark hoodie.
In light of this distressing situation, law enforcement officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in the vicinity of Cronin Street, Commercial Way, or Moody Road during the timeframe of 9:45 PM to 11:45 PM on Wednesday, December 24, to come forward with information.
