It's disheartening to see negativity directed towards those who deserve our compassion. Khloé Kardashian recently addressed the 'gross commentary' surrounding her former partner Tristan Thompson's brother, Amari, who has special needs, attending a dance class.
In a video shared on her Instagram Stories, Khloé called out the 'ridiculous commentary' she encountered after posting about Amari's dance class. She directly addressed the critics, stating, 'All of this gross commentary that I don’t need [and] no one needs.' She emphasized that if people lack understanding or experience with individuals with special needs, they should refrain from commenting. She also mentioned that she would share more videos to highlight the dance academy, which provides incredible support for children with special needs.
But here's where it gets controversial: Khloé shared videos of Amari, who has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a form of epilepsy, enjoying the dance class. The videos showed instructors helping him move in his specialized wheelchair, bringing smiles to his face. She also expressed her gratitude for the dance academy and the people who work there, sharing a photo with the dance teachers and Amari.
And this is the part most people miss: Khloé became Amari's primary caretaker due to Tristan's busy NBA career. Amari's mother, Andrea Thompson, who was his sole caretaker, passed away in January 2023. Following her death, Khloé, along with her family and Tristan, brought Amari to the United States. Khloé explained that Tristan's frequent travel schedule made it challenging for Amari, who experiences multiple seizures daily due to his epilepsy. Khloé now cares for Amari in Los Angeles, supported by two caretakers. She believes that having Amari around is important for her children, nieces, and nephews to be exposed to different types of people.
It's important to remember that families like Khloé's navigate complex situations with grace and resilience. Tristan initially sought temporary guardianship of Amari in September 2023, managing his finances, including an inheritance from their late mother, and making decisions about his living arrangements. This situation arose after Tristan and Khloé's final split in 2021, following a paternity lawsuit.
